Punctuation Note, R 2 W, page 42

There are lots of signal words - ways to introduce your main points - on page 42.  Most of them are used at the beginning of the sentence, followed by a comma, then SUBJECT + VERB.
             first, first of all, for one thing, secondly, thirdly, most importantly, also, finally, in addition 
  • First, my father always helped me with my homework. 
  • Most importantly, he listened to me and cared about my ideas.
The remaining signal words make up the SUBJECT and are followed by the VERB. 
     the most important way, reason, example; one/another/the next way, reason, example 
  • The most important reason is that he is very kind.
  • One example is SCCC.
